Outlier Beyond Oblivion Daryl Banner 9781795228749 Books Reviews

  • Outlier Beyond Oblivion by Daryl Banner

It took me a week or 2 just to process this book After the last book I was so excited and nervous for this book to come out. I knew I was in for a long emotional journey. To understand this story you will definitely need to have read the first 3 books. The novellas will also help with some point of reference. This is not a quick read but well worth your time. A quarter of the way through my heart was breaking. Banner definitely makes you care about these characters. With previous plot lines, sometimes I had to stop and figure out what where I was. At this point the story you are following multiple point of view and 6-7 different physical locations. I trust in the end Banner will pull it all together. Looking forward to the next one( two? )
  • I loved getting even more of the stories of the characters I fell in love with in the pervious books. This is a monster of a book and its worth the read. Read the books in order or you will be lost because its a whole world that unfolds in these pages.
I love that this book is told in several pov's it helps the whole picture that Daryl slowly unveils for us in this series of books.
Im so emotionally involved in these characters that I just need to know everything that happens to them and in as much details as I can get.
I will not say what my favorite parts are just because I don't want to spoil any part of this book for anyone. But I can say that this book did reduce me to tears.
As much as I love all the characters I seem to have a special place for Kid.
  • The only disappointment about this story is that I’m finished it and the next one is not finished yet. Daryl is such a great writer, making his characters so relatable and developed.
  • As usual, I didn’t want it to end. The story lines of all of the characters were captivating. I love how their lives are intertwined throughout the story. The only downside for me was that I couldn’t remember some of the details from Reign of Madness, so now I might have to re-read to fill in some gaps. However, since that was such a good book too, I don’t mind. )
  • Outlier Beyond Oblivion is the fourth book in this series written by Daryl Banner. I found myself drawn in with the very first book and now am hooked in the series, but I must admit, they do draw out a bit and it seems with every book the books get a bit longer and longer. This is however mostly due to the fact that the author is at this point following a lot of different characters in the story, and if they get separated that adds an another story line. There are some characters I absolutely love and others I could do without, but I am sure there is a purpose for them in the master scheme by the author. The obvious characters I really like are Wick and Anthem, Forgemon, Halvesand and a few more, and one I could do without would be for example Tide.

The one thing I always liked about this author were the surprising "sacrifices" he has made about some characters, because lets face it not everyone can survive especially not when there is a major upheaval in a society. But what I am now learning is that just because you were thought to be dead in one of the earlier books, does not necessarily mean you are really dead and I am not sure how I really feel about that. There are quite a lot of people who were truly thought to be dead by everyone, that are slowly but surely all coming back now. So the story is taking a turn that I am not sure I am a huge fan of but time will tell.

The pace of the book is not bad, it is probably a bit on the slower side and as I said before the book is long, probably the length of about 4 to 5 regular books. If you have made it to book 4 you should by now have the different characters and their story straight by now, for the most part. There are still bits and pieces that are coming back to me here and there, but that is to be expected at the length and volume of all the books to date and by the vast numbers of characters and their background.

So we shall see how this story will progress. I still enjoy this series but I am a bit cautious on the turn it is taking at this point. What's the point in killing people off to just miraculously bringing them back somehow?
  • Simply amazing!

This series has had me hooked since the beginning, and Outlier Beyond Oblivion is no exception.

We get to see how our cast of favorite characters (and some not so favorite) are faring after the Madness has struck. The multiple POV's creates a complete view of various different areas of Atlas and the struggles each face.

Wonderfully written with exceptional detail allowing the reader to feel the atmospheres of the Slums, Oblivion and the Lifted City. The emotions experienced with each revelation and triumph feel real.

I love how the characters from previous books were tied into the backstory of how Atlas got to be in the mess it is currently in. Full of twists and turns, this is a page turner that I found myself staying up late to read "just one more chapter".
  • This story was definitely well worth the wait. Beautiful story lines. Very well written. Unforgettable and amazing characters. Excited to read the rest.
  • With so many threads and characters interacting with worlds and sectors and even oblivion, this series challenges the ability of one’s mind to know what’s what and who’s where. Still, one can’t put it down and ventures ever onward toward the invisible end.
